In my work, I strike a balance between simplicity and complexity while exploring the realm of curiosity. My creative journey involves reconstructing and exploring mandala through personal interpretation; visually, it’s just the multiplication and division of squares. To bring these ancient ideals to life, I use a combination of traditional and modern techniques, including materials that are used for construction.
My work emphasizes the conversation between tradition and modernity, combining metaphorical mediums with mandala as its underlying surface. Tradition reflects what you know, while modernity offers a different perspective on that knowledge. Together, they create a dynamic narrative of “you” and “me,” capturing the interplay between the past and the present. But a conversation without movement is stagnant, and stagnation leads nowhere. Motion, change, and exterior action must accompany conversation, whether it be within ourselves or between tradition and modernity. The discussion becomes an echo chamber instead of a driving force for advancement when there is no movement.
For this balance to exist, both sides must yield, adapt, and relinquish certain aspects of themselves. There is no true harmony without the willingness to evolve. Tradition must make space for reinterpretation, and modernity must acknowledge the roots from which it grows. This continuous exchange ensures that neither is lost, but instead, they shape each other in an ongoing cycle of renewal. Through this combination, I provide a new perspective on the timeless beauty and complexity of mandalas, encouraging viewers to examine the significance of these sacred geometric patterns in a contemporary context.
